Day Program

What is Day Program?
Day Program at Red Roof Retreat offers social and emotional support, physical and personal care, recreation and leisure activities on-site and within the community, for young adults with special needs in the Niagara Region. Our staff are trained in all aspects of care required for those from mild to complex needs.

Who can attend Day Program?
Day Program is for young adults with special needs aged 21yrs to 40yrs. These individuals may be enrolled in other community programs and are looking for more options, or they may not be served elsewhere and are looking for an opportunity to be out in the community in a safe and supported way.

What does Day Program provide for the clients?
Day Program runs Monday through Friday, 9am to 4:45pm each day at our facility in Virgil known as “The Ranch”. The Ranch offers an 11 acre hobby farm complete with friendly farm animals, accessible walking trails, creek, wetlands and horse pastures. We plan outings in the community such as the NOTL Community Centre and Library, YWCA pool, Niagara Falls Bird Kingdom, bowling, shopping or other outings deemed appropriate for our clients. Clients may enrol in a part time or full time schedule to be negotiated between the family and Red Roof Retreat.

How do clients pay for Day Program services?
Clients or their families can pay for services themselves or they may use funding provided through Passport Niagara (applications available on-line at Contact Niagara or the Ministry of Community and Social Services.)Special Services at Home or ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program) Funding differs for each family’s and client’s needs, and Red Roof Retreat staff will assist families in deciding on the level of service they can receive. Cost for Day Program is $130.00 per day or any part thereof. Billing options are negotiated with the family.

How do clients access Day Program at Red Roof Retreat?
Families may contact our office directly to express their interest in enrolment. Our staff will do a home visit first to meet the family and client, provide an overview of information about the program and review funding. Families are required to complete a Medical Information package, Plan of Care and consent forms which enables us to determine what programming is required.  Staff are available to work with families and other agencies they receive services from, to plan an integrated approach of care for the clients. All accepted families and clients must review the Rights of the Client and sign a Service Agreement.

What is the value of Day Program?

Red Roof Retreat believes that all of its members of the community need to be seen, respected and immersed in as many meaningful experiences as possible. Day Programs takes clients with special needs out of their home and gives them an opportunity to be involved in their community in a safe and enjoyable way. This is in fact; their right.
